Tips for Buying an Appliance Online

Is Buying an Appliance Online a Good Idea?

If you are buying a new refrigerator and freezer or any new appliance for that matter, you should avoid buying an appliance item online unless you've had the chance to browse floor models in the store first. It can be tempting to buy a refrigerator online because it can save you the hassle of walking through a crowded store, but there are some dangers of buying an appliance online.

You Can't Touch This...

It is difficult to determine exactly what you are getting when you buy an appliance online. No description, no matter how well written, can provide you with an idea of what you can expect. Computer images can sometimes be deceiving, and you might end up with a product that is much smaller or larger than you expected. There is really no substitute for seeing the product up close and personal particularly if it is an expensive item that is going to cost you at least $1,000.

Visit The Local Store

If you are considering buying an appliance online, see if you can locate the model you are interested in buying in the stores first. That way you can get a better look at the appliance before committing to purchasing it. If you decide that you like it, you can go home and place an online order. Another benefit is that you will get to speak to a sales representative. When you talk to a sales associate, you can determine if you are buying a refrigerator or appliance that will actually fit in your house. Appliances that are too large might not fit through your doorway depending on how wide your door is. You will be out the shipping charges which can be quite expensive if you purchase an appliance that you have to send back because it didn't fit inside your doorway.

The bottom line is any time you are buying an appliance online such as a refrigerator make sure you look around the stores before ordering online to save yourself losing both time and money.
